Chrome-lined Browser ~ Ishpeck at 3-Sep-2008 11:46:47 AM
Phlik managed to talk me into trying Chrome out. I'm not quite sure how -- since the last browser he was all gaga over was Safari and that's a total piece of crap. Don't use Safari unless you absolutely have to. I like about Chrome Fast DANG FAST Inspect Element is HAWT JS Console works decent The URL of links pop up when you hover FREAKY FAST Imports settings from F1r3f0x FASTFAST. . . [more]. . .
True Confessions of a Game Design Horkmeister ~ Ishpeck at 28-Aug-2008 04:50:37 PM
I've started getting e-mail from random folks who, upon reading my Ancient Realms of Zolparch page, must inquire: "Where do you get all these ideas from?" I never quite know how to answer that question, though, because there are so many different ideas in the page. If they're asking about the game-world and character/atmosphere aspects of it, I can't answer them because I'm not. . . [more]. . .
iH8 PHP ~ Ishpeck at 27-Aug-2008 08:57:29 AM
Over time, my resentment toward PHP has grown more and more poignant. It's gotten to the point where if I have to type one more dollar sign, I might just kill somebody. I want to find the loser who invented variable type decorators and I want to use his brain tissue as inner tube lining on my bike or something. I don't get to see good PHP. Ever. I'm convinced that it doesn't e. . . [more]. . .
Monkeys w/Vocabularies on Eve ~ Ishpeck at 26-Aug-2008 09:35:30 AM
As economists struggle to come up with answers to the mortgage meltdown and credit crisis, developer CCP's lead economist Dr. Eyjolfur Guðmundsson oversees a very different, yet surprisingly complex, kind of financial market: the persistent, single-server online world of spacefaring MMO EVE Online. Read the full article here. Economics fascinates me. And Eve fascinates my most loyal readers. . . [more]. . .
DBD Rules Update ~ Ishpeck at 21-Aug-2008 03:15:44 PM
For all you die-hard Death by the Dozen fans out there, I've published an update for the dice rolling mechanic. I've finally reconciled the last mathematical impurity in the rules and the game is at an even higher state of snobbery than ever before. For those of you who aren't fans of the Death by the Dozen Role-Playing mechanic, allow me to provide some background: DBD is a rule sy. . . [more]. . .
SoulCalibur 4 ~ Ishpeck at 19-Aug-2008 11:02:49 AM
I've been quietly pretending to myself that the taint of Star Wars hasn't quite touched the only fighting game franchise that remains dear to my heart. In the interest of preserving some dignity (whether by the power of delusion or otherwise, it makes no difference to me), I pretended like I was surprised that Yoda was on the cover of my copy of the game. I did not buy Soul Calibur 4 for. . . [more]. . .
Watch MORE of this! Do it NOW! ~ Ishpeck at 18-Aug-2008 01:20:25 PM
More vids from STOPandLOOK. Very dandy. I wish this Auzzie would do more because he's good. I like his approach. Also: Can you name a single modern fascist regime that didn't use the term "education" as a euphemism for indoctrination? . . . [more]. . .
The Dark Knight - Holy Loaded w/Spoilers, Batman! ~ Ishizgirl at 24-Jul-2008 04:50:22 PM
All in all I give this movie a 9 out of 10. It had a lot of moral hints that I thought were presented well. i.e. the people on the boats never blew each other up, even the criminals. Joker was expecting that but underestimated the good in Gotham. Uh. Lucius said he'd quit if Bruce used the cell phone spy thing anymore. Which I think is a plug for our own country, they passed a bill that . . . [more]. . .
The Titan Cycle - Initial Thoughts ~ Ishpeck at 17-Jul-2008 01:43:32 AM
I'm an insomniac for a little bit and I have this neat idea. So I'm going to try transcribing it before my brain explodes and I pass resentfully into that state of nothingness that doctors recommend but employers don't. For all the crap I give MMORPG's, I decided that the best way for me to criticize them is to teach them how to do it right. My basic idea revolves around the ass. . . [more]. . .
Where's the Hexmap? ~ Ishpeck at 16-Jul-2008 07:11:40 PM
It's common practice for people to, after seeing the glorious financial success that comes from particular creativity, wish to purchase that creativity and cash in on the financial success. Purchasing a brand is a kind of weird thought. A brand is supposed to signify the quality, integrity and craftsmanship that is invested in a product. These are, of course, intangible characteristics. . . . [more]. . .
